Stringer Folk performs folk music from several nations - Ireland, America, Canada. Along the way, you might also hear an English pub tune, a Scottish yarn, a sea chanty, or even an Australian ballad. Within this little bit of everything, there is one thing you certainly will get plenty of, and that's entertainment!
The band consists of Tom Stringer on vocals and guitar, with Joe Kirk on vocals and percussion. Working as just a duo now, the band released two CD's over a 3-year period with a third member (Linn Kezer), who recently moved on to work on other projects. Over their six years together, other "guest" performers have included: Tom's daughter, Emily; Joe's wife, Kelly; Joe's sister-in-law, Heidi; and number one fan, Francis.
Tom has been performing throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe on his own and with other partners for over thirty years. Joe is the relative newbie to the performing scene, having joined Tom in the summer of 2001. What started as a collaboration during a couple of benefit shows for a mutual friend turned into a regular performing partnership that has seen their joint musical repetoire grow from a handful to over 100 songs!
Did you read that part about some CD's they made? Deciding to be a little different, their first release (2004) was a live CD and the self-titled second (2007) was a studio recording:
